Role: UX/UI Designer
Time Frame: 2 Months (project on hold)
Landing Page Mock
Trademark Industries is an Okanagan based dock and outdoor construction company. They approached my team with goals of redesigning their current website, and improving their CTAs and IA.
Discussions with Stakeholders at the company helped us define the company’s short and long term goals.
Short Term (6 months — 1 year)
- Maintain and grow their reputation as a trustworthy dock building and repair company.
- Show community involvement and environmental initiatives and values.
Long Term (1 year+)
- Move into the online retail space.
- As such, the website needed to be designed in a way that considered future e-commerce needs.
The site was developed using WordPress and Avada. To help mitigate costs, we opted to provide a landing page mockup only, and design the rest of the site using the mock and styleguide to help maintain consistency through the site.
Navigation IA Redesign
Trademark first and foremost is a dock construction and repair company. They provide service to the Okanagan region and beyond, and their clientele ranges from residential home owners to large commercial projects.
Discussions with the client helped up come to the conclusion that Services are their current primary revenue stream; however, with the website’s previous navigation the menu was cluttered, disorganized, and did not fully capture the company’s wide range of services.
We opted to use a megamenu for Trademark’s services, allowing quick scanning and opted for contextual headers.
While it is not currently a priority, one of Trademark’s future goals is to move into the online retail space. As such, we wanted to make sure Products had their own space in the top level navigation. While their current products list is limited to in-store purchases, this allows us to feature all their products in one location.
Trademark’s tertiary goal was to raise awareness around their community involvement and environmental initiatives. Along with a landing page section dedicated to this, we dedicated full pages under their About to these initiatives.
Low Fidelity Landing Page Wireframes
Due to an initially strict time frame, low and mid fidelity wires were developed in tandem with the website’s IA. Due to this and budget restrictions, I opted to design the site using their current available content. As the design progressed; however, we were able to bring their goals Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary goals forward to their landing page.
